The examination of Russian utility model patents is divided into formal examination and substantive examination. A formal examination examines whether the form of the patent application is defective; a substantive examination examines whether the patent application is novel or inventive through a search of prior art. After each review is completed, the Russian Intellectual Property Office will announce the review judgment on the official Russian platform, and anyone can raise objections during the announcement period.

1. Application documents: including specifications, claims, abstracts and drawings (utility models must have drawings); 2. Request: including the name of the invention, priority information (if any), PCT international application information (applications for PCT channels), Chinese and English names, addresses and nationalities of the applicant and the inventor; 3. Power of attorney: signed by the applicant without notarization or authentication; 4. Priority documents: if the application is made through the Paris Convention, the original priority certificate must be provided within 16 months from the priority date.
