2. Review Form

South Korea invention patent examination forms are divided into formal examination and substantive examination. KIPO will only assign a patent application number if the application documents satisfy the conditions for formal examination. 18 months from the filing date/priority date to complete the publication. The applicant/interested party shall submit a request for actual examination no later than 5 years from the date of application. Once a request for review is made, it may not be withdrawn and KIPO will review the request in the order in which it was made. Patent applications that meet the conditions for authorization will be granted.
