3. Review Form

1 week after the application is submitted, the examiner will conduct a formal and substantive examination of the application. Form review: After the application is submitted, the examiner will review the legality of the submitted application documents, trademark drawings, power of attorney and other documents. If they meet the relevant regulations, the application date and application number will be granted. Substantive examination: The examination of whether a mark is registrable under the law, for example, whether the mark is distinctive. The examiner who fails the examination will issue a notice of rejection, and the applicant needs to reply within the specified time, and those who pass the substantive examination will enter the announcement period.

South Korea trademark registration is 10 years from the date of registration. You can apply for renewal within 12 months before the expiration of the registration period. There is a 6-month extension period, and the renewal period is 10 years.
