The classification of Luxembourg for the registration of marks is governed by the Nice Agreement Concerning the International Classification of Goods and Services for the purposes of the Registration of Marks.

BOIP reviews the application materials, mainly checking whether the trademark is clearly presented, whether the name of the applicant (individual or company) is stated, whether the description of the product or service is clear, and whether it meets the requirements of the law.

5. protection period

The exclusive right to use a trademark is valid for 10 years from the date of application on the receipt, and there is a risk of revocation if it is not used for 5 consecutive years. An application for renewal can be submitted 6 months before the expiration of the validity period, and the validity period of the renewal registration is 10 years.
