2. Review Form

includes both formal and substantive review. After the applicant submits an invention patent application, the Sri Lanka National Intellectual Property Office will first conduct a formal review of the application to ensure that the documents are complete, the format is correct, and the corresponding fees have been paid. For an invention application that meets the form requirements, the examiner will conduct a substantive examination on whether the invention meets the requirements of the Patent Law in terms of novelty, creativity and practicality. If the patent application meets the patentability criteria, the Sri Lanka National Intellectual Property Office will issue a patent certificate for the invention and publish it in the Government Gazette.

1. Basic information: the names and addresses of the inventors and applicants;

2. Necessary documents: invention patent specification, claims, abstract and necessary drawings;

3. Other documents (if any): assignment agreement, priority documents, power of attorney, etc.
