2. Review Form

Formal Review: After receiving the relevant application, the UK Patent Office will conduct a formal review of the information. The review mainly includes whether the application documents are missing and whether the format of the patent application documents meets the relevant requirements. Formal review: After the formal review is passed, the UK Patent Office will issue a notice to the applicant (the notice contains the application date and application number). A design patent application that passes formal examination is transferred to the formal examination stage. The formal review stage mainly examines whether the design violates public ethics and whether it conforms to the design. If the examiners of the UK Patent Office raise questions, the applicant needs to reply within two months, otherwise it will be deemed to have abandoned the application.

To apply for a registered design patent, you need to submit an application form and documents such as sketches, photos, computer-aided drawings showing the design. An application can contain multiple designs, but multiple designs need to belong to the same category within the same classification. Materials required for application:

1. The product design drawing of the design patent;

2. Patent specification;

3. Identification documents of the applicant;

4. Where priority is claimed, information on the priority application (e. g. application number, application date, country/region) and a copy of the priority document or DAS code shall be provided.
