Chilean patent applications for inventions shall enjoy priority for a period of six months from the date of first filing abroad. The application goes through the preliminary examination stage one month after its submission and will be published 18 months after the application date. After the application is published, there will be a two-month period for disapproval. After the disagreement period, the application proceeds to the substantive examination stage. Four months after entering the substantive review stage, the Chilean National Industrial Property Office issued the review report and published it. The final decision on whether to grant a patent is made four months after publication.
